OffOnOff

Terrie Ex, el. guitar
Massimo Pupillo, el. bass
Paal-Nilssen Love, drums

OffOnOff debuted in November 2006 following their collaboration in Original Silence with Jim O`Rourke, Thurston Moore and Mats Gustafsson. The trio has been described as an amalgamation of Last Exit, James Blood Ulmer, Sonic Youth and Locust, characterized by noise, intense and rapid shifts and contrasts, heavy grooves, and free improvisation.

Terrie Ex is best known as a member of the Dutch rock group The Ex, probably one of Europe's most inventive rock bands that have been pushing the limits for 30 years. Terrie Ex runs his own recording label for which he has collaborated with Han Bennink, Ab Baars, and others. The label is also responsible for putting out the acclaimed Konono No.1 recording. An extreme guitarist, he brakes down all borders with a physical approach that combines aggressive rhythm and tonality in a way that is impossible to compare.

Massimo Pupillo is a member of the Italian trio Zu which has collaborated with No Means No, The Locust, Lightning Bolt, Mike Patton, The Melvins' King Buzzo, Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark, and many others. Seldom has one experienced a bass player who can squeeze as much power and loudness in just one instrument.

Paal Nilssen-Love has established himself as one of the most powerful drummers in contemporary music. In collaborations with musicians from Sweden, Chicago, Japan and Germany, he shows remarkable will and ability to break physical and musical borders and continues to hunt for new collaborations and experiences. He is active with musicians such as Mats Gustafsson, Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Evan Parker, Sten Sandell and Frode Gjerstad.
