"If the Miles Davis Quintet with Tony Williams, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter And Herbie Hancock could have rocked, they would have been the brilliant and ass-kicking Atomic.” -All About Jazz

Please join us for the return of the Scandinavian jazz supergroup Atomic, “one of the most exhilarating new groups on the European circuit!" (The Guardian) Initially understood as rebellious to the quaintness of the “Scandinavian Sound” exemplified by Norwegian artists on labels such as ECM, this intense quintet performs a modernized take on power jazz, drawing from American Fire Music such as Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman, and 1960s European free improvisation, while also drawing inspiration from Hindemith to Radiohead. Collectively, the members of Atomic are also know for their work with The Thing, the Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet, Ken Vandermark (School Days, FME, Free Fall, Territory Band), Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, The Ex, Scorch Trio, Anders Jormin, Marilyn Crispell, Bobo Stensson and more.
